FULL-COLOR COVERS
The full-color printed cover is the easiest and most popular cover and is available in both soft and hard covers. It is very popular because of the stunning number of colors and design techniques you can use to immediately capture the reader’s attention. You can choose one of our professionally designed stock covers or you can create your own custom cover design! A durable coating is applied to all full-color yearbook covers to ensure the colors remain vibrant and the books stand the test of time.
LEATHERETTE COVERS
Leatherette covers are made of synthetic materials that are made to look like leather but are much more durable. Typically, leatherette yearbooks use foil stamping, embossing and/or debossing to accentuate the school name and cover design. Choose from this generous selection of leatherette colors to make a great first impression of your yearbook!
EMBOSSING AND DEBOSSING
Embossing is a technique which creates a raised, or 3-dimensional, image on a piece of paper. It is typically accomplished with a combination of heat and pressure on the paper. Embossing can also be used with foil stamping or on a full-color cover to create an even more unique look. Debossing uses the same technique as embossing, except the impression is heat-pressed into the surface of the paper so that an image is depressed (lowered) instead of raised. As with embossing, debossing can be used with foil stamping or on a full-color cover to create special visual effects and textures.
FOIL STAMPING
Foil stamping involves the use of heat to transfer metallic foil to a solid surface such as a yearbook cover. As with embossing and debossing, a die is needed to “stamp” the foil into the cover material. Foil stamping can be combined with embossing or debossing to create a very striking 3 dimensional image. While gold and silver metallic foil never go out of style, the additional colors shown (at right) are gaining popularity as well—choose colors that give your book a one-of-a-kind look!

Yearbook Artwork Options
Stock Art work
Your yearbook becomes a unique expression when you creatively use stock backgrounds, borders, autograph pages and clip art. All of our stock artwork has been grouped into different artwork series according to theme, color and style.
Using artwork within the same series is recommended for a consistent-looking yearbook. Keep this in mind when choosing clip art as well. Less is more—you want the focus to be the photographs, not necessarily the artwork!
Backgrounds are used to add variety to each page. All backgrounds are set up to bleed (extend) .125″ (1/8″) beyond page edges. Backgrounds must be placed correctly (use program templates) to avoid possible correction charges. They may also be used with text as section dividers in your yearbook! Color backgrounds are not recommended for use in black and white books, as they may not convert well from color to black and white.
Borders are used to frame pages. Some borders are set up to bleed (extend) .125″ (1/8″) beyond page edges. Others, that do not bleed (will have white edges), should be centered on the page. Borders must be placed correctly (use program templates) to avoid possible correction charges. They may also be used with text as section dividers in your yearbook! Color borders are not recommended for use in black and white books, as they may not convert well from color to black and white.
Autograph Pages may be incorporated in your yearbook wherever you would like! Autograph pages are set to bleed (extend) .125″ (1/8″) beyond page edges. They must be placed correctly (use program templates) to avoid incorrect placement and possible correction charges. Color autograph pages cannot be used in black and white books.
Clip Art is used to fill in space in place of photos or to decorate your page as desired. Choose from a large variety of clip art! Many pieces of clip art have been designed to coordinate with background sets (see the note in the clip art section of the Artwork and Font Guide).
Custom Art work
You may choose to include custom artwork in your book. Please follow the same guidelines as with stock artwork. Full page backgrounds should be saved at 8.75″ x 11.25″ at 300 dpi. Bleeds must extend .125″ (1/8″) beyond page edges on all sides. We recommend you choose artwork that creates a coordinated look throughout your entire yearbook. See page 4 for accepted file formats.
