What is a Group and Why Would I Want To Set One Up?

A group consists of multiple users that all have the same editing permissions and/or pages assigned to them.

An Admin may wish to create a group when there are a large number of users that will all have the same permissions. This makes assigning permissions or allowing editing on a page quicker and easier for the Admin.

While groups are provided to help manage large groups of users, they are by no means necessary. Users, by default, are not assigned to a group.
