“Bling for Your Book!”

YearbookLife offers many accessories for your school’s yearbooks!  Contact us for pricing on all of the following options:

Yearbook Supplements:  Do you have more events from the year that didn’t make your yearbook deadline?  Want all of those Spring and end of year celebrations included too?  Then you can produce a Yearbook Supplement.  Designed separately from your book, but utilizing the same software, these 4 to 24 page supplements can be created as an addition to your book.  Pre-applied, ready-to-use tape strips enable anyone to just peel and stick the supplement in the back of the book.

Inside Cover Printing (soft cover books only): Don’t want that inside cover to be wasted space?  Have some pictures, or art, or text you’d like to add?  Printing can be done on the inside cover of our soft cover books!

Custom Endsheets (hard cover books only): Endsheets are the thick paper attached to both the inside front and back covers of your book and the flyleaf.  Customize these sheets to represent your school’s colors or to better reflect the color and mood of your book.   Available Colors: Forest Green, Felt Gray, Red, Navy Blue, Black, Royal Blue, and Goldenrod

Embossing and Debossing (hard cover books only):  Embossing and Debossing are techniques which create a raised (embossed) or impressed (debossed) image on the book.  Both techniques can be used with either foil or ink to create special visual effects and textures.

Cover Personalization: Would you like each student’s name printed on the cover of their book?  Or how about their name, their own photo, or even a few customized icons  to show off their favorite activities?  Contact us to find out which personalization is available for your cover.

Autograph Pages: You want to be able to use every page of your book for photos and memories of the school year!  So why not include our pre-printed four-page Autograph Page Supplements?  Designed with an Elementary theme or Middle/High School theme these pre-printed supplements enable students and staff to easily customize their own books with personal messages from others.

…and don’t forget about our 2014 Best Yearbook Contest

Good Luck and HAVE FUN!

EZBook Desktop Users ONLY…  Have you backed up lately?

Be sure to backup your yearbook file to a CD/DVD or flashdrive.  If your computer crashes and you don’t have a backup of your yearbook, you will have to start all over!

How to Submit Your Yearbook

Follow the steps below to submit your Yearbook

1. As each page is completed it should be marked as “Ready for Approval” by the designer.  To mark a page as “Ready for Approval”, click on the “Pages” drop down menu in the secondary tool bar and click on the green check mark.

2. Each page should then be reviewed and approved by the Admin.  To mark a page as “Approved”, click on the “Pages” drop down menu in the secondary tool bar and click on the blue star to “Approve” the page.  NOTE: Only the Administrator can Approve a Page.

Both of these steps can be done on each page individually, or on multiple pages through the “Pages” drop down menu.  To mark multiple pages as either “Ready for Approval” or “Approved”, click on the first page you want to approve, then hold down the “Shift” key on your keyboard  and click on last page you want to approve.  This will highlight all of the pages in between and allow you to approve them all at once.

NOTE: Be sure to check all of the warning messages on each page before submitting.  These can be seen on your Ladder View.

Once all of the pages are approved, the Admin completes the following:

3. Click on the Submit Icon on the top level tool bar.

4. Click on the blue “Submit Pages” button.

5. Complete the Submission Form (be sure to confirm the number of books and pages, and indicate if you want the Autograph Supplement pages or any other options.)  NOTE: Your book is not submitted into production until this form is complete.

This is a multi-step process.  If you are both designer and administrator of the pages, you still have to go through this process.  Each step only takes a few seconds.

If you are also submitting your cover while you are submitting your pages, you will follow similar steps, all starting with the Cover Icon. The cover must also be marked as “ready for approval”, then “approved”, then submitted. There will be a separate production form for the cover.  Make sure you complete both forms.

If you have any questions, please contact our Technical Support Department at 1-800-887-0414.

More Pictavo Software Enhancements

NEW tools to help ensure the HIGHEST QUALITY

High-Resolution Page View Due to screen resolution limitations that computer monitors have, sometimes high-resolution images can appear blurry in Pictavo. Now you can easily create and view a hi-res version of a page to make sure any images and other important page elements are of highest quality before submitting them for printing. Simply click on the ‘Hi-Res Preview’ button on the top toolbar while designing pages. Pictavo BuyTheYearbook users also have a ‘Hi-Res Preview’ button to ensure their images are high-quality as well.

Snap Features New “Snap To Bleed” and “Snap to Margin” functionalities have been added to ensure items that are intended to bleed off the page or stay within the margins, are placed in their proper position. By default, the Snap To Bleed function is enabled, so if you try to place an item more than half-way between the green margin line and red trim line, it will automatically snap out to the outside of the yellow bleed area. It’ll work the same way if you then try to move that item in from the edge of the bleed. The Snap to Margin is an extra precaution that prevents items from being placed outside the green margin line. It is especially helpful if you’re concerned items may be cut off the page. It is disabled by default but can easily be enabled by changing your default preferences. Just click on the ‘User Preferences’ button in the upper right-hand corner to make your desired changes.

Helpful Warnings
Upon submitting a page for approval, users will be prompted if there is any text from a pre-designed layout that has not been converted from default text (ex: “Lorem Ipsum”, “Header” or “Double click to enter text…”) to real text, thus ensuring all text boxes are either used or deleted before submitting.

Users will be notified if they have text that is too close to the red trim line and may be trimmed off.

Users will be warned if they go to Images, then Portraits and make a change that would result in someone who was previously flowed in a portrait flow to no longer be flowed. For example, if they would add a 26th person to a portrait group that was already flowed with 5 rows and 5 columns (meaning there is only space for 25 people but now the group has 26 people). A popup will now appear notifying users of any portraits that have been affected and are no longer flowed on the page.
